In the field
Previously based in Dili (Timor-Leste), I was the Communications and Photomedia Advisor at Seeds of Life, an agricultural and food security program within the Timor Leste Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF), funded collaboratively with the Australian Government and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.
The goal of the program is “Improved food security through increased productivity of major food crops“, with the objective: “65,000 crop producing households (50% of the expected number in 2015 in Timor-Leste) have access to and are routinely using improved food crop varieties“.
Working in the small communications team, we utilised photography alongside community radio, print media, social media, animation, graphics, television, events and trainings to assist the promotion of nutrition, food security, gender equality, best agriculture practices, and awareness of food crop varieties.
